Upgrading Works for Streets in West Bay Area

Brief description

​Upgrading works on some streets in West Bay Area to improve them and increase their vehicular capacities along with alleviating the traffic in the area especially in peak hours.

This is within Ashghal efforts to improve the existing service facilities and develop the road network in Doha in a way that responds to the economic and social growth requirements in the country.

The project will be implemented in two parallel phases:

  • First phase includes the development of internal roads surrounding the Abdullah Bin Hamad District,
  • Second phase includes the development of Al Corniche Street, Majls Al Taawon Street and a part of Omar Al Mokhtar Street. As well as the improvement of external roads leading to and from Abdullah Bin Hamad District.
Benefits

​​The project includes:

  • Development of 8 signalized intersections on the streets surrounding Abdullah Bin Hamad District 
  • Upgrade of water and electricity networks, 
  • Installation of lighting poles 
  • Expansion of 5 existing signalized intersections on Al Corniche Street and Majlis Al Taawon Street
  • Construction of a new signalised intersection at Majliss Al Taawon Street, 
  • Provision of pedestrian walkways and cycle paths along the street.
